Purpose

Mygrow is on a mission to build an emotionally intelligent world. To do this we need to make EQ development accessible to everyone and we see this as our social responsibility.

At Mygrow we believe that the social responsibility of a business should go beyond the usual “giving back”. We think this common phrase, widely used in CSR and CSI contexts, misses the mark. “Giving back” smuggles in an unhelpful ideology when considering how to uplift individuals, organisations and society at every level. Rather, Mygrow aims to deeply empower people from the inside out to increase psychological and emotional well-being at scale, which we believe results in healthier individuals, families, organisations, communities and societies at large.

This vision is hardwired into everything we do as a company and it is our desire that the character of Mygrow is one that extends this flourishing beyond internal (staff), external (clients), and commercial relationships.

Our approach is to enable EQ development for non-profit entities through our for-profit organisation.

In line with the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development 1, Mygrow is committed to investing in the planet, individuals, and society. The realisation of all 17 of the SDGs is directly or indirectly linked to EQ in the lives of beneficiaries and trustees of each sustainable goal. 2 In light of this, the main expression of our CSI contribution is through subsidising our product to increase emotional intelligence development for those who cannot afford it at our normal price point.

Posture

Through our product and other initiatives, Mygrow is primarily committed to investing in the South African context to help redress the wrongs of our apartheid history: the political, financial, psychological, and educational inequalities that have resulted in disparity and lack of privilege.

Mygrow is committed (through our CSI initiatives) to leveraging the commercial, institutional, and personal power we have as a company to empower:

Organisations that share the heart of our vision and whose work directly aligns with this vision

Parameters

Mygrow may consider a reduced price point for certain organisations whose mandate is directly aligned with Mygrow’s vision and the UN 2030 SDGs, in the context of South Africa. In such cases where application for this discount is successful, the Mygrow CSI budget will cover the shortfall (i.e. the shortfall will be subsidised). The roll out of a CSI subsidised Mygrow contract must be aligned with the specific parameters and deliverables decided by the Mygrow CSI committee. These are considered on a case-by-case basis and may include: minimum usage criteria, minimum engagement, maximum time periods, consent to doing research, access to participant interviews, use of data etc.

Application

The main expression of Mygrow’s CSI contribution is through subsidising the fees of our product to increase EQ development for those who cannot afford it at the standard rates. Entities whose primary work and purpose align with one of the 2030 SDGs, can apply for a subsidy for their employees or the beneficiaries of their work.

Successful applications for the Mygrow CSI subsidies are determined by Mygrow’s CSI committee and evaluated against: a) the Mygrow company vision; b) the UN 2030 SDGs; and c) the available budget within each organisational category.
